This wasn't just about building a house — it was about creating a home that embodied the client's vision and values while addressing unique challenges with innovative solutions.
The project stands as a testament to what’s possible when passion, precision, and purpose come together.
The Brook Ave project was an extraordinary undertaking, characterized by its intricate design, high-level finishes, and the strong personal connection formed with the clients. Initially, I oversaw the project as a supervisor, ensuring timelines and schedules were maintained. As the complexity grew, I found myself fully immersed, transitioning from oversight to being on-site every day, seven days a week.
One of the key elements at Brook Ave was maintaining the "order of operations." This principle ensures every step aligns with the next, avoiding the need to backtrack. I always emphasize: preparation and communication are paramount. For example, at Brook Ave, everything—down to the corner bead on the drywall—was meticulously aligned using lasers to maintain perfect angles.
The house's millwork was a standout feature, with custom finishes that extended seamlessly to cathedral ceilings. This required precise scribing and adjustments to ensure every piece fit flawlessly against surfaces that were not naturally level. The flooring was a combination of red oak and white oak, which required multiple stages of bleaching to maintain colour consistency. Cabinetry was crafted with matching stains, species, and even brass inlays, creating a cohesive design that blended functionality with elegance.
